1. The Methodist Church Jamaica District has embarked on a mission to erect a conference Centre to host mass meetings and other conference facilities on the Bryans Pen Lands in the May Pen Circuit. 2. MCCA New Website - The Methodist Church In The Caribbean And The Americas (MCCA) has now established its own website. It is a work in progress. You may view the site at http://www.mccaonline.net This was launched on Tuesday May 22, 2007 during the Welcome Service of the Connexional Council Held in Kingston, Jamaica.

Methodist Welcome Ceremony for 2007 Connexional Council and Service
for the Launch of 40th Anniversary Celebrations.

The ceremony opened with a grand flag raising ceremony during which the flags of the eight Districts of the MCCA as well as the Conference flag was hoisted. The Jamaica Constabulary Force Band provided music during the Flag raising ceremony which was led by Rev’d. Otto Wade, Connexional Secretary. Rev’d. Everald Galbraith, Jamaica District Secretary, led the Welcome service and accompaniment was provided by Miss. Alison Wallce. Special guests at this service included Bishop Dr. the Hon. Carmen L. Stewart, O.D., J.P. Custos Roltolorum of St. Andrew; Rev’d. Gary Harriot, General Secretary, The Jamaica Council of Churches; Honourable Bruce Golding, leader of the Opposition, Jamaica Labour Party and Rev’d. Ivan McElhinney, President of the Irish Methodist Conference.

PROPOSED METHODIST CONVENTION COMPLEX
BRYANS PEN, CLARENDON

Project GoalslTo provide a centralized facility for the Methodist Church in Jamaica to accommodate the following:

Annual conference and related meetings
Retreats, concerts and other large-scale gatherings, including in-door sports
Rental venue for events of other church organizations
Rented parking for Parish Council and related entities of the May Pen
_ Community

Proposed Facilities

Main Convention Hall to hold 5,000-6,000 persons (seated) with stage, sound and lighting control areas. lRestrooms, sickbay, storage and ancillary facilities lMeeting rooms and office lKitchen and dining area lResidential accommodation lParking for approximately 600 cars

Phased Proposal

Phase I
To accommodate approx. 3,600 persons
Area: 34,000 square feet building
Steel frame, roof and floor slab of central hall with lobby and restrooms
Cleared grounds for parking
Approx. Cost: $60 to $80 million
New road access by Parish Council
Allow contingency sum, approx. $5 million for partial road access

Phase II
To accommodate 1,500 to 2,000 persons lAdditional Area: 17,000 square feet lOuter wings and upper lobby/mezzanine, storage and walkways lPaving of parking areas and landscaping lApprox. Cost $75 million


Phase III
Meeting rooms, office, additional rest rooms and storage, kitchen and dining area lArea: 19,000 square feet lAdditional paved parking and landscaping lApprox. cost: $85 million


Phase IV
Residential Accommodation
